President Tinubu hails Nigeria’s Youth on International Youth Day.

The International Youth Day is commemorated every year on 12 August, bringing youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrating the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society. The theme for the 2024 International Youth Day is: From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.

In a statement from the state house,

President Bola Tinubu celebrates Nigeria’s youths and extols their creative zeal and agency to drive digital adoption, trends, and innovation in Nigeria and beyond. The President acknowledges the strides of the youth in diverse spheres, especially in developing billion dollar technologies and innovations to make the world a more prosperous and evolved place.

He also reiterated some federal government of Nigeria programmes targeted at Nigerian youth and small businesses:

The $617.7 million program targets Nigerians aged 15 to 35 years who are involved in innovative, early-stage, technology-enabled start-ups or in creative sector micro, small and medium sized enterprises. The program is co-financed by the Federal Government of Nigeria (through the Bank of Industry), African Development Bank (AfDB), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

  • The 3Million Technical Talents Scheme

    The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, a critical part of the Renewed Hope agenda, is aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power our digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.  The first phase of the programme, executed in collaboration with NITDA, will involve multiple stakeholders including fellows, training providers, partners and placement organisations.
  • The Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA)

    The Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) is a transformative initiative by the Federal Government and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The SUPA initiative is committed to up-skilling, licensing, and empowering 10 million artisans in Nigeria.
  • The National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP)

An initiative of President Bola Tinubu Ahmed’s administration to provide 1 million service-export jobs in the next 5 years, facilitated by the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, CFA.

The President salutes that Nigerian youth in Ebute Metta with only a ringlight and a camera, creating legitimate income and wonders in amusement; that young woman entrepreneur in Aba, creating inimitable fashion pieces, and that young man in Kano, creating pathways for sustainable agriculture through agro-technology.
